Census completion
As census papers are being dropped off at your door, the Town would like to remind residents how important it is to complete your census information.
Did you know that every resident counted in the census directly impacts funding for the Town of Coronach?
The Province of Saskatchewan provides Municipal Revenue Sharing funding based on population numbers. Currently, the Town receives approximately $298 per counted resident each year. For a small Town like Coronach, every resident matters.
If residents are not counted, the Town can lose significant funding:
Per uncounted resident
-$298 lost per year
-Census Cycle is 5 years
-$1,490 Census Cycle (5-year) Total loss for an uncounted person
If 10 people don’t answer their Census
-$2,980 lost per year
-$14,900 Census Cycle (5-year) Total loss for 10 uncounted people
If 25 people don’t answer their Census
-$7,450 lost per year
-$37,250 Census Cycle (5-year) Total loss for 25 uncounted people
Various grant funding programs use Census population figures to determine the allocation of funds. Sask Lotteries uses Census population to determine the amount of funding that the Recreation Board receives for community programs.
For small communities, like ours, every dollar counts and will affect operating budgets, community services, roads/street maintenance, recreation facilities, snow removal, and investments into our infrastructure.
Thank you to everyone who completes the Census form
