Your water bill explained
Reading Your Utility Bill
– every household is charged the base sewer rate of $55.50 for sewer services, every Quarter (3 months).
– every household is charged the base water rate of $94.50 for 9,000 Imp. Gal., every Quarter (3 months).
– all water usage above 9,000 Imp. Gal. in that Quarter is charged at a rate of $7.00 per 1,000 Imp. Gal.
– your bill shows the 9,000 figure (Imp. Gal.) as the Minimum, and Consumption as a cubic meter figure,
which is converted to Imperial Gallons using a conversion factor of 1 m3 = 219.96 Imp. Gal.
in this example, 57A means an Actual reading, of 57 m3, the result of subtracting 1612 (previous) from 1669 (current).
Quarterly use of 57 m3 = 12,538.24 Imp. Gal. ( 1 m3 = 219.96 Imp. Gal.)
Subtract Quarterly minimum 9,000 Imp. Gal. = extra usage of 3,538.24 Imp. Gal. (rounded up to 3,540)
@ $7.00/ 1,000 Imp.Gal. = $24.78
Plus Quarterly minimum charge $94.50
= Total Residential Rate charge of $119.28 (for water)
The Residential Rate of $119.28 is arrived at by adding the Minimum $94.50, and the extra usage of $24.78.
