Temporary Full-Time General Laborer Position
The General Labour position will aid the public works and utilities departments with the repairs and maintenance of Town property and equipment. Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday, may include weekend and evening shifts, on call 24 hours for emergency and alarm call outs. Must have a minimum of Grade 10 education. A valid driver’s license is required. The individual must be able to operate machines. The individual must have the ability to co-operate with fellow workers and perform all tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the Town, as directed by the Foreman. Must be able to communicate well, both orally and in writing and possess strong customer service skills. Other maintenance jobs include: repair and general maintenance of street, sidewalks, buildings; maintain town yard for cleanliness; mow grass and whipper snip; trim trees; paint street lines and crosswalks; maintain street signs; assemble benches/tables/garbage cans for greenspaces, repair and maintain buildings (locks, doors, etc); place flowers downtown; perform preventative maintenance; sweep and wash shop office/bathrooms; grade roads/alleys; sand streets; push piles and crush bins at the Transfer Site, etc. The successful individual will be required to pass a WHMIS course prior to the start of employment, be self-motivated, and be able to work effectively on their own. This position is a temporary full-time position for approximately 40 hrs./week until the end of April 8, 2025; however, may be extended.
Salary range will be dependent on qualifications, knowledge, and experience.
